Some of the things that can help you maintain that volume as our weather in San Antonio heats up is to use various product layers to add volume. For example: when your hair is wet: prep with a light weight, volume enhancing mousse mixed with a shine enhancer. My favorite of all time is Bio-Silk "Silk Therapy" because it is lightweight on non-greasy!
Now, dry your hair with a blow dryer for the most volume with your head upside down while finger combing hair away from scalp. Make sure your hair is 100% completely dry before you finish. Let it cool and then see if it still feels wet and if it is still damp, continue to dry it all the way. The time is worth it if you "really" want your volume to last as long as possible.
You can air dry your hair but you will not have as much volume-especially at the root area(the top).
If you wish to have straighter hair with volume, flat iron (if possible and your hair isn't too curly or frizzy stay away from the scalp area), and tease the area nearest the scalp on the crown of head then spray with hair spray that dries fast. Comb the top layers smooth and spray again with spray!
If your goal is a "messy" or wavier look, proceed by using a curling iron or hot rollers and obtain your desired curl/wave. Then follow the methods of teasing above!
